Howard Shaw drops appeal, to start 12-week jail sentence on Oct 5
Howard Shaw has decided not to proceed with an appeal against his 12-week jail sentence for one count of paid sex with a minor, contrary to his earlier indication, according to a report in The Business Times (BT).
It appears that Shaw's appeal-petition filing period lapsed last week. Shaw is the grandson of Shaw Organisation founder Runme Shaw.
A Subordinate Courts spokesman also confirmed to BT that Shaw has gained court approval to defer the start date of his jail term to Oct 5 from Sept 14.
Shaw is one of 51 men charged with sex with an underage prostitute in a highly-publicised online vice case involving former civil servants and businessmen.
