The Ministry of Education hopes to nurture children in its new kindergartens to be "confident, lively and curious", Education Minister Heng Swee Keat said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Children in the ministry's five kindergartens, which opened this year, will learn through play and through quality interactions with teachers and friends, Mr Heng said.
"I am happy to see that the children are settling in well," he wrote, following his visit to the Tampines centre a week ago. "We aim to keep improving the quality and accessibility of pre-school education, and parents' support and the children's happiness are very encouraging to our team."
He added that books and lessons at the kindergartens have a "strong Singapore flavour" so that the children will be able to connect what they learn in the kindergartens with their personal experiences outside and at home.
