Heavy traffic at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints expected over coming weekend
Traffic flow at both the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints are expected to be heavy starting from this Friday evening till Hari Raya Haji on Oct 15, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said in a statement.
The authorities advised travellers to adjust their travel plans if possible to avoid a surge of vehicles seeking clearance and encouraged drivers to maintain lane discipline at all times to help ease congestion. Car-pooling and making use of public transport is also encouraged.
Singaporeans issued with the BioPass or registered with the National Registration Office are also encouraged to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at the bus halls for immigration clearance. The automated lanes allow for clearance within 12 seconds.
Those leaving Singapore by the Woodlands or Tuas checkpoints can monitor the traffic situation from the Land Transport Authority's Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) installed along the Ayer Rajah Expressway and Bukit Timah Expressway. Drivers may also call the traffic information hotline at 6863-0117, listen to TrafficWatch on the radio or visit LTA's One Motoring website for more information.
