Health checks to include fall prevention screening
A community health screening for elderly residents will be expanded to assess the seniors' risk of falling.
The enhanced health screening, which aims to reduce the number of falls and fall-related injuries among the elderly, was launched by the Health Promotion Board (HPB) at Bedok Community Centre on Sunday.
On-site pharmacits and optometrists will screen the seniors for ailments, such as osteoporosis, and other conditions like poor vision, that may lead to falls.
Apart from these checks, the home environment of the elderly residents will also come under scrutiny.
