Some 800,000 pieces of N95 face masks will be progressively stocked at NTUC Unity Healthcare pharmacies from Saturday.
The healthcare co-operative said the face masks will be sold at 10 per cent discount.
"Since the start of the haze, we have been working closely with both existing and new suppliers to bring in more N95 face masks," said group chief executive Chua Song Khim. "With the support of the Ministry of Health, we are able to make available fresh stock of the face masks today."
NTUC Unity Healthcare will be limiting purchase of the N95 face masks to 10 pieces per customer to ensure that more people who need the masks will be able to obtain these, and also to discourage profiteering.
Meanwhile, the three-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) dipped to 319 at 12 noon from 322 an hour earlier, but remains in the "hazardous" range.
The 24 hour average PSI at 11am was in the 175-229 range, from 176-235 at 10am.
Several grassroots groups were out on Saturday distributing N95 face masks to low-income households and the elderly.
This comes after the Government assured on Friday that it would give free N95 masks to lower-income households, starting with some 200,000 of the poorest households and the vulnerable living here.
