Halimah hails role of youth mentors
The Government alone cannot provide all the help that troubled and at-risk youth need, which is why their family, friends and even employers must step up to provide them with a strong support system.
There is also a need for more volunteers to mentor these young people, to help steer them away from delinquent behaviour.
That was the view of Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports Halimah Yacob, who was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Podz Youth Mentoring Programme's annual networking event yesterday.
"I think the support and role of family is absolutely crucial... the mentors also play a critical role," said Madam Halimah.
