Government maps out future tech possibilities
Imagine an intelligent home where screens, say, TV sets, tablets or smartphones can sense your presence and switch on as you move from room to room to allow for uninterrupted viewing.
Imagine your refrigerator knowing what ingredients are left in it and suggesting recipes on a screen. It can also automatically order food from a nearby grocery, after which payments can be made via the mobile phone.
These are some of the possibilities discussed at the sixth Infocomm Technology Roadmap (ITR) Symposium 2012 held at The Sands Expo and Convention Center on Friday.
Organised by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), the conference is aimed at helping the local infocomm industry shape their business strategies based on global trends the IDA identified in consultation with IT veterans, researchers and academia.
