Good mix of old and young for friendly against India

Lions will miss veterans like Shahril but youngsters set to step up on Tuesday

From one corner of the Choa Chu Kang Stadium, he cast an almost envious glance at his teammates hard at work on the pitch.

For national captain Shahril Ishak, there was to be no football action on Monday or, indeed, on Tuesday evening, when Singapore take on India in an international friendly.

The 28-year-old is one of four players who have been ruled out through injury, as coach Raddy Avramovic continues to prepare his troops for the coming Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup.

With less than six weeks before the tournament gets under way, the Lions have just one more warm-up match lined up - against the Philippines in Cebu on Nov 15 - in addition to a proposed training camp in Japan.
