Malay/Muslim Organisations (MMO) will now receive funds to build their capabilities and improve their organisational development thanks to a boost in government funding.
Starting this year, $600,000 will go to a capability development fund which MMOs can tap on for use in areas such as leadership grooming, staff training and attracting Malay Muslim professionals from various sectors. The fund is part of the Malay/Muslim Community Development Fund which received a boost from $1m to $2.6m annually, starting from this year.
Minister for Communication and Information and Minister In-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim also shared details of a capability framework which will be led by the Community Leaders' Forum (CLF), a platform that brings together organisations such as mosques and schools, to tackle issues faced by the Malay/Muslim community.
"The framework provides an overarching vision for the strengthening of CLF's capacity to respond efficiently and effectively to community challenges," said Dr Yaacob.
