Free access to new URA database after revamp for easier information retrieval
The public can now access the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) database for free, after a revamp to make it easier for users to retrieve information about buildings and properties.
Previously, buyers or lessees of a property wanting to find out information like its approved use, storey height or history of renovation works had to sieve through a "cumbersome" database manually, said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan in a blog post on Wednesday.
To simplify the process, the URA has launched a new map-based application, which uses a technology called Geographic Information System.
Through the revamped database, users only need to click on a building, or type in an address.
