Former Asia Pacific Breweries chief executive Koh Poh Tiong will take over as chairman of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) from Oct 29.

His plans include building four or five new dialysis centres in the next few years, and expanding the help which NKF gives to needy patients, for instance by providing basic foodstuffs.

Mr Koh replaces Mr Gerard Ee, who is stepping down. Mr Ee was appointed chairman on July 18 2005 by the Ministry of Health, after the NKF saga in which funds were misused.

Mr Koh joined NKF as a board director on May 22 2012. He retired as chief executive officer of Fraser and Neave in October 2011, having previously been chief executive officer of Asia Pacific Breweries from 1993 to 2008.
