Firms Score with ex-cons amid labour crunch

More employers are lining up to employ ex-offenders, a sign of greater awareness of this labour pool in the light of the ongoing manpower crunch.
There are now more than 3,100 employers on the Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises' (Score) employer database.
This is almost double the number just five years ago, when 1,557 were registered with the statutory board, which comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The figures were released on Wednesday at Score's annual Appreciation Awards at The Grassroots Club in Yio Chu Kang, where 56 organisations and individuals were recognised for helping ex-offenders reintegrate into society.
