Firefighters responded to a fire at King Albert Park on Friday, after it received a call for help at 12.48pm, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Responding to queries from The Straits Times, SCDF said two fire engines, a red rhino and three other support vehicles were despatched to the scene at 11 King Albert Park, where a McDonald's restaurant, popular with residents and students in the area, is located.

"Upon arrival, SCDF found fire involved a switchboard located inside a switchroom at level 2 of the premise," said a spokesman. "It was extinguished swiftly using fire extinguishers."

Patrons and staff had self-evacuated prior to SCDF arrival, there were no reported injuries thus far and no one was sent to hospital.
