A fire alarm in Changi Airport Terminal 1 was accidentally triggered by a cleaner at about 6.40pm on Friday.

This resulted in power being cut off to the terminal's escalators, lifts and gas outlets, said the Changi Airport Group in response to queries from The Straits Times.

The alarm was turned off after about three minutes and power was restored by staff in about an hour.

On Thursday, Changi Airport was named the world's best in an annual global survey of travellers - its second consecutive win.
