One day after a group of civil society activists launched the first Singapore Advocacy Awards (SAA) on Monday, a fake Facebook page that carries images and content from its official page has surfaced.
The fake page, which largely duplicated content from the official site, attracted more than 1,000 likes.
Its organisers, a group of activists called The Working Committee 3 (TWC3), said in a press release that crucial information such as the date for nominations and nominations received differs from the official version.
The awards aim to celebrate civil society's achievements and affirm its role in shaping society. It is seeking nominations of individuals and organisations that take it upon themselves to identify a societal need and show courage in taking action. The individual or organisation must have helped communities to drive change for themselves, inspired others to contribute to their community or given time, skills and resources to make a difference to society.
