EZ-link cards designed by two famous local batik artists are available for sale at selected MRT stations and post offices from Friday.
The cards bearing two designs were launched by EZ-link and the People's Association to commemorate Chingay 2014. Money raised from the sale of these cards will go to the PA-ssion Cares! fund, which supports the needy and their caregivers. This year, the fund will sponsor volunteers of hospitals and welfare homes, as well as long-serving grassroots volunteers to attend the Chingay celebrations.
The floral prints of the cards were designed by famous local father-and-son batik artists, Mr Sarkasi Bin Said and Mr Ika Zahri Bin Sarkasi. One design was inspired by a Chinese poem by Lianhe Zaobao Senior Executive Editor Pan Cheng Lui. The other design was curated from a 360-meter batik banner handpainted by 40,000 members of the public over a six-month period.
The cards allow the public to "own a piece of our culture" and come together to support the "tireless individuals in our society", said EZ-Link chief executive Nicholas Lee.
