Ex-Diethelm executive jailed for receiving $67,000 in bribes
He joined Diethelm Singapore in 1979 and was promoted head of logistics in 2005.
On Monday, Alex Chee Eng Huat, 64, was jailed two months by a district court for the offences. He was also ordered to pay a penalty of $67,000; the amount he had corruptly received from Applied Forwarding from April 2008 to September 2009.
Chee, who is unemployed, pleaded guilty to accepting the money from Mr Viswamoorthy Ramanathan, 49, a director of Applied, in return for getting Diethelm to award a two-year contract in 2008 for warehousing and shipping services.
The court heard that sums ranging from $4,000 to $10,000, which were placed in envelopes, exchanged hands either in Diethelm's office in Pasir Panjang or at Applied's warehouse in Senoko.
