Drunk man arrested after being subdued with taser at Chin Swee Road

The police used a taser to subdue a drunk man who was causing trouble at Block 52 Chin Swee Road at about 4pm on Monday.

Despite police attempts at engaging him, the 47-year-old man turned aggressive, shouted and charged at the officers even as they repeatedly warned him to stop, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.

Police then deployed the taser to subdue the man, who was smelling strongly of alcohol. The man was arrested for disorderly behaviour and for the suspected consumption of controlled drugs.

If convicted of Disorderly Behaviour in a Public Place, the suspect could face a fine of up to $1,000 or a jail term of up to one month. In the event of a second or subsequent conviction, the maximum penalties are a fine of up to $2,000 or a jail term of up to six months.
