SDP's Dr Wijeysingha apologises to Acting Manpower Minister

Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) treasurer Vincent Wijeysingha has apologised to Acting Minister of Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin for allegations he made on Facebook last month.

Dr Wijeysingha put up a letter of apology on the social networking site on Saturday morning apologising unreservedly to the Minister for defamatory allegations that are "wholly untrue and false".

On December 2, Dr Wijeysingha had written a note on the illegal strike by Chinese bus drivers working for SMRT and in it he had, among others, made allegations that Mr Tan had been either dishonest or deceptive in his handling of the issue.

In his apology he wrote that the allegations were "made without basis".

It is the second time Dr Wijeysingha has had to apologise for the same Facebook note. Last month, he apologised to former PAP MP S. Vasoo for making a false allegation that Dr Vasoo had "fabricated evidence to deprive (SDP chief) Dr Chee Soon Juan of his living".
