Donating blood set to be easier with Dhoby centre

Visitors to Dhoby Xchange will soon have the chance to donate blood between shopping and eating. Bloodbank@Dhoby, the first blood donation centre in the city centre, is set to open at the retail stretch next to Dhoby Ghaut MRT in mid-September. The centre will occupy two units in the retail stretch next to Dhoby Ghaut MRT, and is part of the HSA's long-term efforts to decentralise blood donation. -- ST PHOTO: ALPHONSUS CHERN

If you are shopping at Dhoby Xchange in September and the mood to do good hits you, you can pop into one of the units there to donate blood.

Bloodbank@Dhoby, the first blood donation centre downtown, is set to open on the retail stretch next to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station in September.

Open from noon to 8pm every day except on Thursdays, the centre, which has 10 beds and 10 employees, will be able to handle 20 donors within an hour.

The whole process should take an hour or two at most for a donor.
