David Chang, 40, was driving along Telok Blangah Road after spending more than half a day at the Resorts World Sentosa casino, when he fell asleep behind the wheel of his car and hit two elderly pedestrians at about noon on Jan 22 this year.

Mr Yeo Ah Bah, 73, died of multiple injuries in hospital less than two hours later while his wife Ler Sock Hua, 70, was seriously injured.

Chang, a credit officer with Phillips Securities, pleaded guilty to driving negligently and was on Tuesday fined $11,500 and disqualified from driving for 3 1/2 years.

Court papers stated that Chang was on his way home after gambling at the casino for about 15 hours when the incident happened.
