Construction worker from India killed after being run over by tipper truck at worksite

A construction worker was killed on Saturday afternoon, after he was run over by a tipper truck at a Tampines worksite.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted just before 3pm about the incident, which took place at the entrance of the worksite located at the junction of Tampines Avenue 10 and Tampines Industrial Avenue 2.

The victim, a 27-year-old worker from India, was found trapped under the front wheel of the truck when SCDF rescuers arrived at the scene. He was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after his body was extricated.

The 33-year-old driver, who is also an Indian national, was arrested for causing death by negligent act. He is currently assisting the police with investigations.
