Some 680 students graduated from the Building Construction Authority (BCA) on Wednesday morning.

This cohort - the largest one yet, also included the pioneering batch of graduands who went for the first ever specialist diploma in the Building Information Modelling (BIM).

BIM, which relies on 3-D imaging technology to reduce errors in construction projects, has been widely touted by the authorities as one way out of the extensive labour cuts that are meant to reduce dependency on foreign labour.

Senior Minister of State for National Development Mr Lee Yi Shyan said the higher intake and subsequent graduation reflected the long term prospects of the industry. In the past five years, the sector has seen an average growth of 12 per cent.
