A programme to promote crime prevention, and improve safety and security among foreign workers staying at Kranji Lodge One Dormitory was launched by Jurong Police Division on Saturday.

Called the Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP), it is supported by the dorm operators, employers of the foreign workers, as well as the Manpower Ministry, National Environment Agency, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Customs

Mr Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Manpower and Education, was the guest of honour at the event held at 12 Kranji Road this morning, where prizes were given out to foreign workers whose rooms were the three cleanest and safest.

Besides judging the rooms on their level of cleanliness, the workers were also assessed on how they secured their lockers, room doors and personal valuables. The event also saw 30 foreign workers being appointed as ambassadors, who serve as informal leaders to spread messages about crime prevention to their fellow workers.
