Collect ST Run packs from tomorrow to Sunday
Starting tomorrow, participants of The Straits Times' Run in the Park can begin collecting their race packs ahead of the Aug 25 event.
The packs will come wrapped in bio-degradable bags made of a material called Ecoplas, by bag manufacturer Tech-Pak.
Said Ms Diana Sin, founder of Eco Buddies, the marketing agency for Tech-Pak: "The main component of the material is starch extracted from the common tapioca plant.
"(The bag) is renewable, sustainable and recyclable. The carbon footprint is the lowest of any bag production at present."
From tomorrow until Sunday, runners can pick up their race packs at Orchard Central, level five, from 11am to 8pm.
The items in the race pack, which was a huge draw for registrants, are worth more than $168 - to celebrate ST's 168th birthday this year.
Besides a New Balance limited edition "Lightning Dry" event T-shirt worth $49, items include an $80 Clinique voucher and a $33 ticket to Resorts World Sentosa's SEA Aquarium.
Participants are reminded to bring their race confirmation slip and NRIC for collection. Those below the age of 18 will need to have a parental consent form.
Also up for grabs during the race pack collection is a Huiji hamper worth $63. This will be given to the first 350 new subscribers to ST.
A special four-page pull-out containing all the information one needs to know about the run will also be handed out, along with this week's issue of Mind Your Body.
This issue, which focuses on running routes along Singapore's various park connectors, also features tips on gadgets and apps to track runners' performance, aids to prevent injuries and food to fuel participants for the race.
The ST Run in the Park will be held along Punggol Waterway, which is part of the National Parks Board's North Eastern Riverine Loop. It is organised by ST as part of the Straits Times Appreciates Readers programme to reach out to the community.
