Potong Pasir MP Sitoh Yih Pin said on Sunday that the void deck where his predecessor Chiam See Tong used to hold his Meet-the-People Sessions has to make way for a wellness centre, because surrounding blocks are unsuitable.

The volunteer welfare organisation that runs the wellness centre, Wan Min Community Services, thus had no choice but to settle on Block 108, he added. He was replying to a question from Potong Pasir resident Chia Shang Ming, 24, a civil servant.

Mr Chia asked Mr Sitoh to explain what was going on at Block 108, Potong Pasir Avenue 1, following last week's media reports on the matter.

Mr Sitoh said Wan Min approached him last year for help in identifying a space within a nine-block precinct. Wan Min sought a space in the precinct of Blocks 101 to 109.
