Cheaper town gas for half of Singapore's households from February

Households using City Gas will pay less for their town gas from Feb 1 until Apr 30.

City Gas, which pipes town gas to half the homes in Singapore, said on Sunday that gas prices will be lowered by 0.8 per cent over the period.

Gas tariffs for households will be 21.01 cents per kilowatt hour, compared to 21.18 cents previously, excluding 7 per cent GST.

City Gas, which reviews its gas tariffs every three months based on guidelines set by gas industry regulator Energy Market Authority, said that the decrease is due to lower fuel prices.
