The Changi Village murder victim was stabbed repeatedly by his assailant but he managed to get into a taxi which brought him to the hospital.

His efforts, however, were in vain.

The 45-year-old man, who was seen bleeding profusely from his torso at the scene, bled out in the taxi and died before he arrived at Changi General Hospital (CGH).

An eyewitness told The Straits Times that the incident at a Changi Village pub, was an argument that turned fatal.

The two men were engaged in a shouting match from about 11.30pm, said the resident who lives hear the watering hole.

He looked out of his window and saw the 44-year-old suspect arguing with the victim.

"I heard one of them say in Malay, 'If you dare, you try me', and then they started fighting," said the resident, who gave his name only as Shah.

Shah said he saw the attacker stabbed the victim "two or three times with a sharp object".

The victim was bleeding profusely from wounds to his shoulder and torso, but managed to reach the main road and flag down a taxi," said the 40-year-old resident, who called '999' at about 11.45pm.

The victim, however, was pronounced dead at CGH at 12.17am.

His attacker has since been arrested for the murder.
