A large tree fell on two cars along Dunearn Road early Thursday morning, causing a massive jam along a stretch on Bukit Timah Road.

The tree, which fell across two lanes, crushed the exterior of a navy blue Jaguar, leaving its seats exposed to the heavy rain that morning.

The driver, a retiree who wanted to be known only as Mr Seah, told The Straits Times: "I was on my way home when I heard a loud bang. Thank goodness I did not get a heart attack." Mr Seah had just dropped his daughter off at Nanyang Girls' High.

The other car, a black Honda, had its top dented. Its driver, who only wanted to be known as Madam Loh, was about to round the corner to her son's school at Hwa Chong Institution. The tree was said to have fallen around 7.20am. When the Straits Times arrived at the scene, most of the tree had been cut down by workers and removed. The Land Transport Authority said its first response team arrived at about 8am and vehicles arrived around 11am to tow the cars away.
