Car reduced to metal heap after catching fire near CTE entrance

A car that caught fire near the entrance of the Central Expressway (CTE) earlier this afternoon was reduced to an ashen tangle of metal after the flames were extinguished by Singapore Civil Defence (SCDF) officers.

An SCDF spokesperson said they received a call at 3.47pm about a burning car that was on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Jurong and entering the CTE.

It is not known what caused the fire.

A fire engine, one red rhino and two fire bikes were deployed to the scene and the fire was extinguished within five minutes. No one was injured and the cause of fire is being investigated.
