A car was found stuck headfirst in a hole along Keppel Road towards Harbourfront early Wednesday morning.

The police said that they received a call at at 6.27am requesting assistance at the junction of Keppel Road and Cantonment Link. The car was subsequently pulled out and no one was injured.

The incident may have been a result of a leak on a water main beneath the road surface. The Public Utilities Board spokesman said that the leak on a 700mm diameter main was isolated at about 9.30am.

To facilitate repair works, vehicular traffic on all four lanes was diverted to a parallel road from 9am. Two of the four lanes have opened, but the other two lanes will remain close to facilitate repair works which are expected to be completed Thursday evening.
