Candidates standing in the Punggol East by-election met party activists and supporters at various locations across the ward on Wednesday morning, as they made their way towards the Nomination Centre.
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean was spotted at the People's Action Party (PAP) branch office with other Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC MPs before they boarded a bus with PAP candidate Koh Poh Koon to the centre.
Speaking to reporters, the 40-year-old surgeon said: "I feel energised by the spirit and energy from the supporters, I feel I'm ready to do my best for the residents of Punggol East.
Workers' Party (WP) supporters were seen gathering at Blk 101 Rivervale Walk, just opposite North Vista Secondary School about 45 minutes before nomination hour begins at 11am.
WP chairman Sylvia Lim told reporters that the party is ready for the campaign as she enters a HDB block to join WP candidate Lee Li Lian, who was getting ready her forms at a resident's house.
Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) secretary-general Desmond Lim was seen boarding a bus with supporters from Eunos MRT station, heading towards the Nomination Centre.
Reform Party chief Kenneth Jeyaratnam, 53, was spotted counting his cash deposits in denominations of $1,000 at the void deck of Blk 123B. He intends to submit his election deposit in cash.
Meanwhile, independent candidates Ooi Boon Ewe and Zeng Guoyan were spotted arriving at the Nomination Centre.

Candidates participating in the Punggol East by-election will file their nomination papers at North Vista Secondary School, the by-election's nomination centre, on Wednesday from 11am to 12pm.
