The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) launched on Wednesday an online platform for pet owners to book quarantine spaces for their animals coming into Singapore from abroad.

Called the Quarantine Management System, this new platform will allow pet owners to make travel plans of up to six months in advance. This compares to the previous manual system, in which applications are made through mail, fax or e-mail, where a quarantine space could be confirmed only 30 days before the arrival date.

Animals coming into Singapore from countries like China and Malaysia are typically quarantined at the Sembawang Animal Quarantine Station for 30 days to prevent the spread of infectious diseases like rabies.
