About 6,000 ST readers party at Universal Studios
Readers of The Straits Times were treated to a night of thrills and fun at the Universal Studios Singapore (USS) on Saturday, when the theme park opened its doors in the evening exclusively for those who had previously attended the Straits Times Appreciates Readers (Star) concert.
ST readers who had purchased tickets to the Star concert were given a free entry ticket to all rides at the Star party at USS for Saturday or Sunday, and one ticket to the Singapore Flyer.
The theme park, which usually does not operate in the evening, opened exclusively for Star concert goers between 7.30pm to 11pm, with all shows, rides, and attractions fully running. It will be the same on Sunday night.
Some 6,000 park-goers turned up for the Star party on Saturday.
Mr Rick Hunter Wang, 36, arrived more than an hour early, at 6.15pm, with his fiancee. He wanted to be among the first to enter the park.
"I heard a lot of good reviews about the Transformers ride from friends, and we wanted to be among the first to enter the park so that we won't have to queue up for it," said Mr Wang.
The risk manager had previously attended the Star concert at the Gardens by the Bay with his fiancee, and enjoyed the performance by Korean girl group 4minute.
"It will be great if the next concert can feature more international acts," he said, adding that he looks forward to attending such ST events on an annual basis.
