Eight arts groups here will be getting a $2.77 million boost from the National Arts Council (NAC) in its bid to support both emerging and existing arts groups.

The funds can go towards supporting the operations of younger arts organisations, while established groups can use the money to improve the quality and reach of their programmes.

The NAC will commit $350,000 to these organisations for the rest of the financial year, which ends on March 31 next year, and will support them to the tune of $2.42 million in total for the next three years.

The Seed Grant scheme, which was launched in June this year, attracted over 30 applications, of which Maya Dance Theatre, Paper Monkey Theatre, Nine Years Theatre, Orchestra of the Music Makers, Singapore Music Society, New Opera Singapore, Grey Projects and Art Incubator were selected. Each group will get between $20,000 and $75,000 for this financial year.
