SINGAPORE is answering the call of duty - for the fourth time - to support international counter-piracy efforts in the Gulf of Aden.

A 145-strong group from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) left on Tuesday for a three-month stint.

The Republic of Singapore Navy's stealth frigate RSS Intrepid, with a Sikorsky S70B Seahawk naval helicopter 145 personnel on board, set off for the pirate-infested area in the waters off Somalia.

Under the ambit of the multinational Combined Task Force (CTF) 151, the team will conduct area surveillance and patrols, as well as respond to calls for help from ships encountering pirate attacks.
