23-year-old NSman dies after tree falls on him
Transport operator was waiting to enter military training grounds

An operationally ready national serviceman (NSman), 23, died on Thursday afternoon after being hit by a falling tree.
Lance Corporal (NS) Tan Tai Seng, a transport operator, had stopped his military vehicle at the gates of Ama Keng Training Area at Lim Chu Kang at 11.50am.
He then left the vehicle and was waiting to enter the training grounds when a tree fell on him.
The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) said a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) doctor who was on site immediately tried to resuscitate the injured man.

BEST EFFORTS FAIL
Despite the best efforts by the SAF doctor and the NUH emergency medicine department, LCP (NS) Tan succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 1.08pm.
