Police have arrested 15 men and five women, aged between 20 and 66, for suspected involvement in loansharking activities during a two-day islandwide sting.

The operation started with simultaneous raids by officers from Jurong Police Division on Wednesday in Jurong West, Woodlands and Teck Whye.

The 13 men and four women, aged between 20 and 60, who were nabbed are believed to have opened bank accounts and gave away their Automated Teller Machines (ATM) cards and Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) to loansharks to facilitate their businesses.

All the suspects are believed to be either borrowers or guarantors and have helped the loansharks for monetary gains or to clear their debts.
