2 charged with conspiracy to commit robbery

A 26-year-old man and a teenager were charged in a district court on Wednesday with conspiring with each other to rob goldsmith shops near Chinatown.

Kee Hong Yong and Hei Lip Gen, 16, are said to have bought two hammers, several sets of gloves, two balaclavas, two baseball caps and a black bag for use as tools in the robbery.

The alleged conspiracy took place between Aug 1 and 6.

They were remanded at Central police station lock-up to assist in investigations.
