159 arrests in one day during Geylang police operation

An operation in Geylang on Oct 2 last year led to the arrests of 159 men and women, police revealed on Tuesday.
The suspects were apprehended for various offences under the Women's Charter, immigration act and misuse of drug act.
Led by the Bedok Police Division the project involved more than 170 officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, the Police Intelligence Department and the Special Operations Command. The raids were carried out at Lorong 14, Lorong 16 and Lorong 24 in Geylang.
One of the suspects was a 47-year-old man who was arrested in the vicinity of Police Cantonment Complex. He had allegedly provided and sold information of the movement of police vehicles to crime syndicates operating in Geylang. Officers seized two binoculars, one telescope and two walkie-talkie handsets found in his possession.
