10 arrested for operating illegal gambling den

The police have arrested 10 people for operating an illegal gambling den under the guise of an association on Tuesday.

Officers from Bedok Police Division and Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) raided the association located along Geylang Road in a seven-hour joint operation, and arrested 10 men aged between 34 and 61.

Preliminary investigations indicated that one of the suspects, a 41-year-old man, operated the illegal gambling den, while the rest of the suspects were patrons of the said den.

Four electronic mahjong tables and cash of about $400 were seized as case exhibits. Nine of the suspects will be charged in Court on Aug 10. Investigations against the tenth suspect are ongoing.
