About one in five homes in Singapore is now surfing on the new fibre broadband network - nearly double the figure in January.

According to latest figures released yesterday by OpenNet, the network builder, this works out to be about 200,000 subscribers, of which about 7,000 are sign-ups from the recently ended Comex 2012 IT event.

The new ultra-fast network promises connection speeds of up to 1GB per second, 10 times faster than current available speeds.
