Civil servant who beat wife in lift arrested: Penang police
PUTRAJAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The woman who was savagely beaten up by her husband in front of their children has received interim protection order against her husband, a 36-year-old civil servant.
The man has been arrested on Thursday in Kuantan, the capital of Pahang. He had gone into hiding since Monday's incident, which took place in a lift at a private hospital in Georgetown, Penang.
"Arrangements have been made to bring him back here. We need to record his statement to shed light over the matter," said Penang CID chief Senior Assistant Commander Mazlan Kesah.
Minister of Woman, Family and Community Development Rohani Abdul Karim said the victim, along with her two children, age four and five respectively, are re-settled at a "safe place".
