Vietnam: Father and son found in jungle after 40 years
FOR FOUR decades, a man and his son lived in isolation in the jungles of central Vietnam.
Now 82 years old, Mr Ho Van Thanh was a soldier fighting for the communist North against the US forces before he fled into the forest with his son Ho Van Lang, then a mere one-year-old child.
They survived by hunting and growing their own vegetables. Their clothes were handmade from tree bark; their house built on a tree.
After losing touch with the outside world for 40 years, they were spotted by two villagers who ventured 40km into the jungle in search of firewood, the Bangkok Post reported. Authorities were alerted and the father and son were recovered on Wednesday.
