PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A Swedish court on Thursday extended the remand of Malaysian Azizul Raheem Awalludin by 11 days for alleged child abuse on one of his four children.

The case of his wife Shalwati Norshal will be heard on Friday.

Azizul, a Tourism Malaysia director in Stockholm, and his wife, school teacher Shalwati, have reportedly been detained since December 18 after Shalwati allegedly smacked their 12-year-old son on the arm for refusing to perform his prayers.

The couple's four children have been transferred to a Muslim foster family.
