BEIJING - A Chinese coast guard vessel is rushing to the waters where a missing Malaysian plane may be located, officials in China said.

The State Oceanic Administration said the exact location of the plane is unknown. But search operations will be conducted in waters off Vietnam and Malaysia.

Under an emergency response mechanism, the vessel, coded "3411", is sailing to this area at full speed, and is expected to arrive by Sunday afternoon, Xinhua reported.

The plane was carrying 239 people, including 153 Chinese passengers while en route to Beijing on Saturday morning.
