The pilot and co-pilot of flight MH370 were rostered based on an internal system, said Malaysia Airlines chief said on Friday.

The two may or may not have known each other before the flight, said MAS CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya when asked by The Straits Times at a press briefing.

Psychological assessment of pilots are done annually or twice a year, depending on their age, and such tests are done as part of their medical assessment, he said.

Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, 53, along with his co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid, 27, has come under intense scrutiny after Malaysian authorities said flight MH370's disappearance was due to "deliberate" action by someone on the plane.
