PUTRAJAYA - Malaysians staying abroad can vote in the next general election once the regulations have been tabled and passed at the ongoing parliamentary sitting, the Star newspaper reported on Tuesday.

"We only need to amend the regulations and forms (to register as postal voters)," Election Commission (EC) chairman Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof told reporters here on Monday.

Under current rulings, only full-time students and civil servants, as well as their spouses, are eligible for postal voting.

This has led to complaints by those who were not within the category, such as private sector employees working overseas.
