Skudai (Johor): Malaysia's opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has announced that veteran opposition MP Lim Kit Siang of the DAP will stand in Johor's Gelang Patah parliamentary seat at the upcoming general election.

The widely expected move comes as the Pakatan Rakyat alliance makes a concerted bid to rock the bastion of the ruling Barisan Nasional's major parties, Umno and the Malaysian Chinese Association.

Datuk Seri Anwar was speaking at the 47th anniversary celebration of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in Skudai, part of Gelang Patah constituency, which borders the Second Link.

"We want the people of Johor to be kingmakers," Mr Lim told over 3000 at the rally after the announcement on Monday.
