KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A 29-year-old Malaysian woman and her child suffered severe burns after her vengeful boyfriend set her house on fire.

According to her neighbour, a man entered Ms Sarliza Saidinflat's flat in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, on early Tuesday morning. She lives there with her mother and 18-month-old baby.

The man then allegedly locked the unit from outside before splashing petrol on the door.

The flat was set on fire, triggering a gas explosion inside the unit, according to a report received by the City Fire and Rescue department.
